We will update this information as necessary but feel that it is important that we address the concerns that all parents may have. I’m sure many of you have been following the media coverage about H1N1 and the predictions of an influenza illness increase following the return of children to school. Should Gymnastics BC send us any memos on this topic, we will share with all our Wings families. For now, this is our message on illness and Flu Precautions. We request that you do not bring your child to Wings if they are sick or have symptoms of flu influenza. Below are some things you may wish to consider as you try to determine if your child is ill, and should not be attending their program. Your child may be unaware of their limitations so we ask parents to refrain from asking your child if he/she feels well enough to attend. Keep your child home to speed their recovery and prevent the spread of flu influenza. | Please keep your child home if he/she:
• Has symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, constant runny nose, chills and fatigue
• Is too sick to participate in all normal activities
• Has vomited or had diarrhea during the previous 24 hours
You can call HealthLinkBC at 8-1-1, 24 hours a day/seven days a week to speak to a nurse if you have more questions.
We make these requests for the following reasons:
1. The protection of others. Germs spread easily and quickly through children –we want to maintain a healthy environment for everyone.
2. A child’s recovery could be delayed. He/she is more likely to acquire other illnesses when the immune resistance is reduced.
3. The inability of your child to focus and function in activities may possibly create an unsafe situation for your child’s participation.
A good rule of thumb is: If in doubt, don’t send your child to class.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping prevent the spread of illness and flu influenza. Fee free to send us a text message to 778.996.9464 to let us know of your child's absence or send us an email. The club is working on making sure we have access to our email during the day time leading up our work-outs so that you can send us a message that will get to your coach before class starts.

If in doubt about poor weather cancellations, please call the Cameron Sports desk at Telephone: 421-5225 or 421-0976 and they will know if we are in or not as we let them know as soon as the decision is made.
From the City of Burnaby...
For safety reasons, please do not drop off your children at the door and block the traffic. We almost had an accident with children jumping out of doors and running into cars. We recommend that you please park and walk your children into the gym. Please do what it takes for a safe drop-off and pick-up for not just your own children but for all wings gymnasts. The city thanks you for your cooperation.
From coaches...
Please do have your children go to the bathroom before gymnastics if at possible. If they have to use the bathroom, we need them to please PUT THEIR SHOES on!! We will be nagging and reminding them to do so. They will also need to go with a buddy if they are 10 and younger, if possible, we would prefer them to always go with a buddy regardless of their age. They need to let their coach know before they go anywhere at all times. Our staff will try and monitor the comings and goings and will "bounce" the kids out of the bathroom if they seem to be spending too much time in there.
Miscellaneous We do have new and gently used suits for sale. Please enquire to have them brought out. If anyone have out-grown suits they would like to give-away or sell for a nominal price, please bring to the gym in a labelled Ziploc bag. The new suits are sleeveless training tank-style bodysuits, custom made by Tiptoe Gym wear. They are in the club "blue" and the price is $40.00. We have a variety of sizes, and if we do not have the size we will order it in. This suit can be worn by any gymnast in the gym. |
