Program Descriptions
Wings Kindergym Program
Boys and Girls (Pre-school and Kindergarten)
Participants should have participated in the City of Burnaby's Kindergym programs or should
have had exposure to a structured program setting. Children must be able
to pay attention to specific instructions and capable of staying focused on the
group for the duration of one hour. The Head Coach is available to discuss
any questions about your childs’ ability to fit into this group. Boys and
Girls train together in Kindergym.
This is a 1 or 2 hour/week program
5:30 - 6:30pm Tuesdays only $35/month
5:30 - 6:30pm Thursdays only $35/month
5:30 - 6:30pm Tuesday AND Thursday $55.00/month
Beginner-Intermediate
Recreational Gymnastics for Boys & Girls (Grade 1 and up)
The main objective of this program is to make gymnastics interesting,
challenging and enjoyable for all participants. The beginner gymnast is
introduced to all of the gymnastics apparatus and will learn all basic
skills. The intermediate level gymnast will be challenged at his/her level
and will develop more difficult skills at his/her own pace. Coaches will
ensure a safe and positive learning environment. The goal is to make gymnastics
a part of the child's healthy lifestyle. The groups in the gym at this
level are NOT Co-ed unless they consist of very young gymnasts transitioning
from Kindergym or young gymnasts who still need the co-ed enviroment. If there
is enough interest and registration allows, a boys only group will be
formed.

Youth
Recreational Gymnastics for Girls (10 years and up)
The main objective of this program is to make
gymnastics interesting, challenging and enjoyable for our 10 and up
gymnasts. The beginner gymnast is introduced to all of the gymnastics
apparatus and will learn all basic skills. The intermediate level gymnast
will be challenged at his/her level and will develop more difficult skills at
his/her own pace. Coaches will ensure a safe and positive learning
environment. The goal is to make gymnastics a part of the youth's healthy
lifestyle. No try-outs required to join this group!

Advanced Boys (9-16 years)
This program focuses on somersaulting and off axis tricks using
mini-trampoline, trampoline, double-mini and spring floor. The boys have
fun learning advanced skills safely with an experienced coach. Gymnasts in
this group are recommended by coaches and must attend end of June
Assessments/Try-Outs.
This is a 2.5 or 5 hour/week program

Advanced Recreational Gymnastics for Girls (9-16 years)
This program focuses on building upon the basics towards more advanced skills. The philosophy remains that of our recreational programs, but adds an individual challenge to each athlete. Gymnasts in this group must be recommended by their coach or can request assessment in June. Although it is not mandatory, due to the nature of this program it is strongly recommended that athletes attend two days per week. Skills are built upon on a daily basis and coming only once per week will slow their progression.

Interclub for Girls (9-16 years)
This program expands the opportunities for athletes at the recreational
level. It provides the chance to be part of a team, learn and master
routines and perform in 3 meet-type events for recreational athletes of all
abilities. Interclub promotes a creative environment that does not follow
traditional competitive gymnastics. Gymnasts in this group must be recommended by their coach or can request to be assessed in June. Athletes must attend at least 2 of the 3 meet each year. Meet fees are the responsibility of the individual family and range between $50 and $80 each. A team body suit is required and costs $40 - 60.

Pre-Competitive Kids in Progress (K.I.P.) Program for Girls (6-9 years)
This program is designed to prepare young gymnasts for the competitive
stream of artistic gymnastics. The focus is progressive strength and skill
building, basic routines and introduction to training competitively.
Depending on readiness, athletes will take part in 3 to 5 K.I.P. meets
sanctioned by Gymnastics BC to help acquire competition experience.
Gymnasts in this group are recommended by their coach or can request to be
assessed in June. Meet fees are the responsibility of the individual
family and range between $60 and $85 each. A team body suit is required
and costs $100.

Competitive Program for Girls (9 years and up) BC Provincal Program
This is the most advanced level of gymnastics offered at Wings.
Gymnasts in this group are recommended by their coach or can request to be
assessed in June. The training in this program is intense and disciplined,
however maintains a positive learning environment for all. Gymnasts train
from September onwards for competitions which start in February. Depending
on their readiness to compete the required routines at their level on all four
apparatus, gymnasts will compete in 4 to 5 competitions sanctioned by Gymnastics
BC. Each athlete is required to attend 3 of the 5 competitions each year,
and those qualifying for the Provincial Championships must attend. The
success of this group relies heavily on parent and coach support. Meet
fees are the responsibility of the individual family and range between $80 and
$100 each. A team body suit ($100) and track suit ($150) are
required.
11 hours/week

Attendance and punctuality is imperative to
the success of the athlete.
Details to come regarding the revised and Optional Display Group that will commence in
March 2012 that can be joined by ANY athlete currently enrolled in the
club. The group will practice once a week in order to get ready for Gymnaestrada, in-house events, as well as any public functions that Wings gets a request for.
